Surgery Instruments & Scrub Technician

Are you a detail-oriented technician who is interested in supporting a busy cutting-edge Surgery department? Veterinary Referral Associates in Gaithersburg, MD is looking for a surgical instrument/O.R. scrub tech to add to our growing Surgery department.
The instrument/scrub tech is a vital part of a specialty surgery service. You will be a second set of hands for our surgeons in the operating room and responsible for ensuring proper maintenance and sterility of our intricate surgical instrumentation and equipment.
Surgery Instrument & Scrub Technicians are responsible for, but not limited to:
- Proper cleaning, maintenance, and sterilization of surgical instruments
- Ensuring correct instruments and supplies are available for each procedure
- Assisting with inventory maintenance
- Maintaining a clean and organized workspace
- Maintenance of anesthesia machines and sufficient stock of supplies
Ideal candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Organizational expertise
- Basic medical terminology and anatomical identification
- Ability to take initiative while working in a team environment
- Ability to anticipate doctors’ needs
- Ability to take direction
- Be friendly, outgoing, and people-oriented
- Must have sound decision making skills and be able to multi-task while working in an environment of stress
Our Surgery Instrument & Scrub Techs enjoy a 4-day workweek!
We strive to help our technicians and assistants maintain a healthy work-life balance by offering set schedules so you can plan your life outside of work. Your schedule will consist of four, 10-hour shifts per week, with 3 days off.
Schedule:
- Day shift
- On call
- 10-hour shift
2+ years’ experience as a veterinary technician is required.
