Requirements That Protect What Matters Most

Our criteria aren’t just checkboxes—they’re designed to protect your care center's reputation, ensure a smooth transition, and make sure your team continues to thrive. Every care center is different, but here’s what we typically look for.

What Makes a Practice a Good Fit

These criteria help us identify practices that are ready to thrive with the right support. If you align with most of them—you’re in the right place. And if you’re not sure yet? We’re always open to a conversation.

People & Team

We look for practices with two or more full-time doctors and a leadership team that’s passionate about staying involved post-transition. Our most successful partnerships happen when there’s trust, clinical alignment, and shared values on both sides.

  • 2+ doctors or equivalent on staff
  • Owner/partner commitment to stay post-sale

Medical Standards & Facilities

We’re looking for care centers that are already delivering consistent, ethical, high-quality care. Whether it’s preventive services or advanced diagnostics, the medical approach should reflect a commitment to both patients and clients.

  • High ethical standards
  • Strong patient outcomes

Financial Health

We don’t expect spotless books—but we do need to understand the health of the business. We typically look for care centers with healthy revenue, reasonable margins, and a track record of consistent performance. If you’re unsure how you stack up, we’re happy to walk you through it.

  • Consistent performance
  • Acceptable expenditures

Community

We value care centers that are known, respected, and loved by their communities. Whether through word-of-mouth, local partnerships, or generations of loyal pet owners, your reputation is one of your greatest assets—and we want to help preserve it.

  • Trusted by pet owners
  • Positive standing with referring veterinarians

Let’s Talk About Where You’re Headed

If you’re still building your team, working on profitability, or managing older facilities, that doesn’t automatically rule you out. Many successful PetVet care centers started just like you—with the right intention and a solid foundation.

Hey — I’m not sure that we meet every requirement.

Should we still reach out?

PetVet Logo

Absolutely. Many of our partners started in the same place.

Our facility’s solid and we love our team, but we’re still working on financial consistency.

That’s more common than you’d think. Let’s talk it through—no pressure, just clarity.
