Position Overview
Join our team as a Surgery Certified Veterinary Technician who supports hospital operations by providing dedicated quality veterinary care and exceptional service to our patients and clients. Responsibilities include providing patient care by determining animal requirements, conducting examinations and diagnostic procedures, assisting during surgery and operations, providing nursing care, assisting with feeding and caring for patients, maintaining medical supplies and equipment, overseeing triage and discharging patients, and maintaining patient medical records.

We are looking for a bright, motivated, energetic, upbeat, experienced Certified Veterinary Technician to join our practice. Key Responsibilities
- Obtain vitals of patient and a thorough history from client at presentation
- Restrain canines and felines safely and humanely for exam, diagnostics, and treatments
- Venipuncture of Cephalic, Saphenous, and Jugular
- Perform hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, fecal, coagulation panel, and process laboratory samples for reference lab
- Radiology techniques and positioning
- Place and maintain Intravenous Catheters, including central and arterial lines
- Place and maintain Urinary Catheters
- Calculate medication doses, including oral, injectable, and CRI
- Administer oral, injectable, and CRI medications, including knowledge of drug compatibilities
- Knowledge of CPR procedures
- Perform emergency anesthesia, including calculations, monitoring, and recovery
- Complete medical records in hospital management software
- Fill prescriptions, properly log controlled drugs
- Review discharge instructions with client
- Handle client calls and questions, including schedule appointments
- Work independently and as part of a team
- Clean, pack, and sterilize surgical instruments
- Assist in surgical procedures
- Care for all pre/post op surgical patients in the ICU, including hourly medical treatments
- Maintain the cleanliness of the OR, ICU, Radiology, and hospital as a whole
- Occasionally assist the Emergency Department with incoming ER cases
Qualifications (Required)
- Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to be considered for this position
- High school diploma or GED
- Must be a Certified Veterinary Technician
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)
- Advanced anesthesia and surgical experience
Schedule
- Monday-Thursday from 7:30am-5:30pm
- Must be able to work the full schedule as well as occasional evenings and weekends, holidays will also be required
