Equine Radiology Technician/Veterinary Assistant

 

PetVet Care Centers' Hagyard Equine Medical Institute is currently seeking an Equine Radiology Technician/Veterinary Assistant to join their team!

Position: Radiology Technician/Vet Assistant

Skills/Responsibilities Required:

The primary role and duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

Radiology

  • Assists veterinarians with taking radiographs at client location(s) as scheduled.
  • Assists with routine maintenance of digital radiography equipment to ensure highest quality standards.
  • Administrative tasks such as typing and transcribing radiograph reports for veterinarians and emailing to clients in a timely manner.
  • Attends the annual meeting with doctors prior to sales beginning to ensure expectations are met and details are communicated.
  • Participates in training for support staff and doctors for digital radiography (i.e. training for Stalos – setup, required views, good vs. bad views, downloading images, labeling, etc.)
  • Follows protocol for radiation safety measures to ensure safety of staff and compliance with government regulatory requirements.
  • Attends all training required to learn new techniques, procedures and equipment.
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings as required.
  • Assists senior technicians with other advanced imaging modalities as needed. (i.e. MRI & PET Scan)
  • Ability to drive personal vehicle as needed with mileage reimbursement. (On occasions when a work vehicle is not available).
  • Assists with troubleshooting common issues with digital radiography equipment.

Additional Sales Responsibilities

  • Available to assist with the entire radiography process during all sales, as needed.
  • Aid veterinarians with uploading endoscopic videos to sales companies in a timely and organized manner.
  • Assist with uploading of digital radiographs, veterinary reports, and other documents to sales companies in accordance with their deadline schedule.
  • Assist field veterinarians with restraining horses as needed for procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Equine experience (Yearling experience preferred)
  • Excellent communicator
  • Must be capable of lifting 100 lbs.
  • Ability to restrain up to 1,200 lbs.
  • Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record

Schedule

  • This position will be primarily Monday through Friday, 8AM to 4PM. Some overtime or weekends may be required.

Pay Range
$19.91$24.34 USD
