Internal Medicine Inventory Coordinator - Hagyard Equine Medical Institute

Position Overview
Join our team as an Internal Medicine Inventory Coordinator who is responsible for maintaining high volume inventory at the McGee Medicine Center.
Hagyard Equine Medical Institute in Lexington, Kentucky, is an internationally recognized leader in equine medicine, combining cutting-edge technology with a collaborative team dedicated to advancing equine health and performance.
Essential Functions:
- Inventory
- Daily review of inpatient treatment charts to determine medication and fluid usage over prior 24h period to determine inventory order needs.
- Review of inpatient charts to ensure inventory correctly invoiced (i.e. correct concentration, container sizes etc.)
- Walk through the hospital areas to evaluate existing inventory and needs.
- Create pharmacy order based on assessment of present inventory and ongoing usage
- Confirm pharmacy order delivery quantities.
- Keep record of backordered medical and non-medical items and maintain communication with pharmacy/companies regarding return to stock date(s)
- Inform medicine clinicians of backordered stock
- Place pharmacy order in designated storage area(s)
- Maintains appropriate stock levels of all supplies and medications for McGee Medicine Center.
- Stocking and maintain organization of fluid room/areas to include rotating fluids so older inventory can be used first
- Control overstocking and waste by properly managing all stock areas.
- Assists in reduction of waste and spoilage to include surveillance of expiration dates, temperature/light sensitive medications, etc.
- Update office manager, billing personnel and doctors of new stock items.
- Order and maintain commercial plasma inventory
- Determine non-medical supply order to be submitted 2 x weekly
- Confirm accuracy and receipt of non-medical supplies and place in designated areas
- Assist Dispensary Coordinator as needed
- Procedures
- When time allows, assist in set up of equipment and supplies for emergency and non-emergency procedures (i.e. catheters, ultrasound machines, endoscopy, laser surgery, etc.)
- Assist Procedures Technician/Vet Assistant with exam room responsibilities, equipment, and rentals as needed

- Ability to read, interpret, and document technical information and procedures
- Basic math skills, including percentages, proportions, and volume calculations
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds regularly
- Ability to work in environments with chemicals, airborne particles, and varying conditions
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, reach, and use hands throughout the workday
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)
- Associate degree, technical training, or equivalent combination of education and related experience preferred
Schedule: Full-Time, primarily Monday through Friday, day shift
