Position Overview

Reporting to the Assistant Controller, this newly created role is responsible for supporting the monthly financial close, preparing journal entries and account reconciliations, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and assisting with financial reporting and process improvements. The ideal candidate has 2–4+ years of combined public and / or private industry experience, a strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly analyses for the Company’s complex benefit programs, including medical benefits and workers’ compensation
  • Perform review of third-party benefit administrator reports and record all related journal entries
  • Presentations of monthly results to the accounting and benefit leadership teams
  • Work closely with third party advisors on monthly claims and results
  • Prepare annual budget and forecast of medical and workers compensation expense
  • Prepare monthly Accounts Receivable CECL reserve analysis and record related journal entries
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations for accrued payroll and benefit accounts and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner
  • Analyze financial results, investigate variances, and provide explanations to management, with emphasis on key Balance Sheet and P&L accounts
  • Assist with external audits by preparing schedules and responding to auditor requests
  • Assist with various other monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments to resolve accounting issues and improve financial processes
  • Support implementation of process improvements and automation initiatives to increase efficiency and accuracy
  • Maintain accurate accounting documentation and records, including accounting narratives for benefits and CECL processes
  • Assist with special projects and ad hoc financial analyses as assigned

Qualifications (Required)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 2–4+ years of combined public and / or private accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and general accounting principles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skill.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)

  • CPA or CPA candidate highly preferred
  • Experience with month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics, or similar)
  • Experience with financial reporting and external audits
  • Experience with process improvement or accounting automation initiatives

Pay Range
$85,000$95,000 USD
