Position Overview

Join our team as a Veterinary Assistant who supports the veterinarians and technicians in their daily tasks by cleaning and maintaining equipment, feeding, exercising and grooming patients, preparing and sanitizing surgery suites, restraining and handling patients, and clerical and administrative work. They deliver quality care for all patients and provide exceptional service.

Laguna Hills Animal Hospital in Laguna Woods, California has been caring for the pets and families since 1966, making it one of Orange County's most enduring and trusted veterinary practices with nearly 60 years of community roots. The hospital offers a comprehensive suite of services — from primary care, dentistry, and surgery to ultrasound, digital radiology, boarding, and grooming — all within a warm, friendly environment where team members are known for building close, long-lasting bonds with their clients and patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide compassionate care to all patients, including conducting exams, collecting samples, administering medications and vaccines, monitoring hospitalized animals, and assisting with surgical procedures.
  • Greet clients professionally upon arrival, communicate patient status as directed, and educate owners on hospital services, wellness plans, and medications.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic environment by sterilizing instruments, disinfecting treatment areas and kennels, and preparing surgery suites.
  • Accurately document patient conditions, update records in a timely manner, and maintain proper logging and security of controlled drugs and prescriptions.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot hospital equipment; manage inventory and place supply orders as needed and depending on role.

Qualifications

  • One year of Surgical experience
  • Has catheter placement, blood draw/work, surgery prep & monitoring experience
  • Experience with dental procedures, including scaling and polishing, strongly preferred.
  • Experience with monitoring anesthesia strongly preferred.
  • Must be able to lift and carry animals up to 50 pounds; this is a physically demanding role requiring frequent standing, walking, lifting, and constant motion.

Schedule: Full-time (4-5 days a week) with hours from 8AM-5PM / 9AM.  Please Note that Saturday or Sunday availability is *required* for team members.

Compensation: $21.00 - $29.00 hourly

Please note that this compensation range encompasses both uncredentialed and credentialed pay rates. Compensation is determined by hospital manager based on skills, experience, and relevant qualifications.

Pay Range
$21$29 USD
