Position Overview

Join our team as a Care Coordinator who contributes to the success of a high-performing organization committed to delivering superior care and exceptional service. Performs a range of administrative and customer service tasks, providing valuable support to the hospital. Within the veterinary field, this position aligns closely with roles often titled Veterinary Receptionist, Customer Service Representative, or Client Care Specialist.
 
Surfside Animal Hospital has been a trusted resource for Oceanside and the greater North San Diego County community since 2010, building a strong reputation for quality, professional care delivered with a genuine compassionate touch. The hospital offers a full range of services for cats, dogs, and exotic pets including birds, rabbits, reptiles, and rodents — and goes above and beyond with same-day urgent care appointments during regular business hours, ensuring pets are never left waiting in their most stressful moments.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides excellent customer service in-person, over the phone, and during high-stress situations.
  • Manages lobby flow, addresses concerns, calms distressed owners, and schedules appointments.
  • Handles basic medical emergencies for pets and owners, ensuring safety and well-being.
  • Assists with medication pickups, inquiries, and provides information about services and products.
  • Inputs and manages data in practice management software, including billing and accounts.
  • Assists with retail sales, weighing pets, processing faxes, and maintaining records.
  • Reconciles cash drawer and performs end-of-day duties for accurate financial transactions.

Qualifications (Required)

  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to be considered for this position
  • Experience in a customer-facing role required
  • Strong phone communication skills
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn new systems quickly
  • Fast learner with strong adaptability
  • Friendly, positive, and understanding personality
  • Comfortable being the face of the hospital and providing excellent client service

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)

  • Experience with Avimark preferred
  • Previous veterinary hospital receptionist experience preferred
  • Someone who is interested in growing in the Client Service Representative role and supporting the front desk long-term (not seeking this role as a transition to a Veterinary Assistant position)

Schedule

  • Must be available to work every weekend
  • Prior to August 9th: Wednesday–Saturday + Monday
  • Starting the week of August 9th (Sunday reopening): Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday + Monday
  • Weekday schedule: 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM (closing shift)
  • Weekend schedule: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM (opening shift)
  • This role requires a consistent 5-day, 8-hour shift schedule
  • Weekend availability and schedule commitment are required due to hospital expansion needs
  • Candidates should have limited pre-planned time off and be able to commit to the schedule without frequent weekend requests
  • Schedule swaps may be limited due to different team schedules and coverage needs

Pay Range
$18$22 USD
