Veterinary Assistant
We are looking for a Veterinary Assistant to add to our amazing team. You will play an important role in bringing comfort to our furry patients and ensuring the smooth running of our facility. Small animal hospital in North Providence seeking a full-time Veterinary Assistant. Hours will vary based on hospital’s needs but will include at least one evening shift (12:00pm- 7:00pm) per week and every other Saturday (8am-2pm). The ideal candidate should work well in a fast-paced environment, possess excellent customer service skills, and be a team player. Experience in basic exam room procedures like restraint, preparing medications and invoicing is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Restrain animals during examinations or vaccinations
- Handle administrative duties such as scheduling appointments or calling patients in the examination room by priority
- Keep accurate records and logs
- Advise pet owners on nutrition and healthcare per doctor's instructions
Skills
- Proven experience as a Veterinary Assistant or similar position working with animals
- Current or former pet ownership is an advantage
- Excellent communication skills
- Patient and caring personality
- Ability to follow instructions properly
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (e.g. lift up to 50 lbs)
- Availability to occasionally work in emergencies
- High school diploma; a certificate from a Veterinary Assistant program is a plus
