Equine Veterinarian
Sport Horse Veterinarian – Hagyard Equine Medical Institute
Location: Lexington, Kentucky/ Wilmington, Ohio

Hagyard Equine Medical Institute, a trusted name in Central Kentucky's equine industry for over 146 years, is expanding its Sport Horse Medicine Team within the Performance Horse Department. We are seeking experienced veterinarians with a passion for horse show medicine to join our dedicated team.
About the Practice
Hagyard is proud to provide comprehensive equine care through a large, collaborative team of veterinary specialists. Our Sport Horse veterinarians deliver full-service primary care, emergency services, and advanced lameness diagnostics to performance horses both at farms, in-clinic, and at major equestrian events.
Our current show coverage includes premier venues like the Kentucky Horse Park and The World Equestrian Center in Wilmington, Ohio.
About the Role
- Deliver full-spectrum primary and emergency care for performance horse clientele.
- Provide specialized lameness services utilizing leading diagnostic and therapeutic technologies.
- Participate in horse show coverage and on-call rotations as needed.
- Work collaboratively with fellow veterinarians to expand client services and build new relationships.
Advanced Equipment & Therapies Available:
- Portable and referral digital radiography, ultrasonography, endoscopy (upper airway and gastroscopy), nuclear scintigraphy, MRI, PET scans
- Extracorporeal shockwave therapy, Class IV laser, IRAP, PRP, Pro-stride, Alpha2EQ
Qualifications
- DVM or equivalent degree
- Valid veterinary license and accreditation to practice in Kentucky
- 1–2+ years of veterinary experience, preferably with a focus in sport horse medicine
- Interest and experience in hunter/jumper disciplines preferred
- Availability for evening, weekend, and on-call shifts
- Strong communication skills to support effective collaboration within a team and with shared clients
