Pharmacist (Part-time/PRN)
Job Title: Veterinary Staff Pharmacist
Reports to: Pharmacist-in-Charge
Department: Pharmacy
Summary:
- Verify that prescription orders fulfill legal requirements before leaving the pharmacy to be dispensed.
- Verify compounding formulas and verify for accuracy.
- Custom compounding prescriptions and verifying the work of pharmacy technicians.
- Follow all Federal and State Board of Pharmacy regulations.
Responsibilities and Functions include but are not limited to:
- Complies with all applicable state and federal laws governing pharmacy practice, policies and procedures, best practices, and other regulatory standards.
- Documents all information as required by pharmacy, state and federal pharmacy regulations, and non-federal organizations.
- Review prescriptions to assure accuracy, to ascertain the needed ingredients, and to evaluate their suitability.
- Collaborates with other professionals to plan, monitor, review, and evaluate the quality effectiveness of drugs regimens, providing advice on drug applications and characteristics.
- Provide information and advice regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and proper medication storage.
- Supervise pharmacy staff from different departments within the pharmacy.
- May compound and dispense medications as prescribed by practitioners by calculating, weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients, or overseeing these processes.
- May prepare non-sterile preparations such as: solutions, suspensions, ointments, creams, pastes, capsules, and other non-sterile preparations for dispensing.
- May prepare sterile preparations such as: solutions, suspensions, infusions, and injectables for dispensing.
- May prepare hazardous preparations such as: solutions, suspensions, ointments, creams, pastes, injectables for dispensing.
- Performs other duties as directed by the Pharmacist-in-charge.
Performance Abilities include but are not limited to:
- Open the pharmacy and be ready to fill prescriptions promptly at opening time for the pharmacy.
- Remain in the pharmacy through closing time if there are orders to be filled or customers waiting, and to ensure that all orders that need to be picked up have been , or that the customer is notified of the closing time of the pharmacy.
