Payroll Specialist

Position Overview
PetVet Care Centers is a vibrant veterinary hospital network committed to excellence in each of our locations across the nation. We seek to add the best and brightest professionals to our support team. The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing payroll timely and accurately each payroll cycle, and regularly engaging with Managers and team members to address and resolve any payroll related items.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately process payroll a segment of our 10,000 team member base on a bi-weekly basis.
- Ensure payroll calculations comply with company policies and applicable tax laws.
- Ensure proper withholding, reporting, and remittance of payroll taxes at the federal, state, and local levels.
- Maintain compliance with payroll tax regulations, including FICA, FUTA, SUTA, and other applicable laws.
- Perform routine and thorough audits and checks both pre and post payroll processing.
- Reconcile payroll accounts and payroll tax withholdings, ensuring accuracy in all records and resolving any discrepancies.
- Respond to Manager inquiries regarding all payroll related matters.
- Coordinate with the People and Accounting teams to ensure accurate team member data and compliance.
- Assist with audits, both internal and external, related to payroll and taxes.
Qualifications (Required)
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (Bachelor’s preferred)
- Current knowledge of payroll procedures and related laws
- Familiarity with payroll software/ HRIS (Ceridian Dayforce highly preferred)
- Certified Payroll Professional designation preferred
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, writing and communication skills.
- Computer and Microsoft Excel proficiency required.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
- 2+ years of total experience
