Pharmacy Technician
Position Overview
The purpose of the Pharmacy Technician is to provide pharmaceutical services to the patients at Monte Vista Small Animal Hospital.
Work Experience Requirements
- Filling prescription requests for inpatients and outpatients.
- Maintain proper records of controlled drugs.
- Quality assurance of prescription requests.
- Processing refill requests.
- Checking the refill request message center in a timely manner (Ipad, Itouch, Phone, voicemail)
- Maintaining medication inventory
- Request to order medications and restocking of medications.
- Maintain proper and complete records for each patient/communication.
- Keeping the pharmacy in an orderly manner.
- Answering incoming phone calls when needed.
- Check out of clients (with or without prescriptions).
- Talk to owners about medications (side effects, instructions, etc.).
- Refrain from any negative talk, gestures, implied attitudes that reflect poorly on the Hospital.
Education Requirements/Physical Requirements
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Successful completion of a veterinary technology program accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association or the successful completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program.
- Licensed pharmacy technician would be ideal but not required
- At least 1 year of customer service job-related experience.
- Lift 40 lbs.
- Standing for long periods of time.
- Valid Social Security Card.
- Possession of a valid California driver’s license or a valid identification card.
- Basic math and writing skills
