Oncology - Registered Veterinary Technician

Position Overview
- The Veterinary Technician supports hospital operations by providing dedicated quality veterinary care and exceptional service to our patients and clients. Responsibilities include providing patient care by determining animal requirements, conducting examinations and diagnostic procedures, running anesthesia, providing nursing care, assisting with feeding and caring for patients, maintaining medical supplies and equipment, discharging patients, and maintaining patient medical records.
Key Responsibilities

Educating clients on proper home care, medication administration, chemotherapy safety, and the handling of waste products

Preparing and administering chemotherapy using closed-system transfer devices

Assisting with anesthesia and sedation for CT scans, biopsies, and other procedures

Performing venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and obtaining diagnostic samples

Monitoring patient vitals, including blood pressure, ECG, and other parameters

Conducting in-house laboratory testing and ensuring accurate documentation in medical records

Operating and assisting with imaging procedures, including CT, radiographs, and ultrasounds

Providing clear and compassionate client communication—discussing test results, treatment plans, and ongoing care

Maintaining inventory and ensuring proper handling and storage of oncology-related medications and supplies

Collaborating with other hospital departments to coordinate patient care and synchronize treatment plans

Ensuring safe, thoughtful handling and positioning of patients during all procedures
Qualifications (Required)

Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) license required

Minimum 2+ years of experience in veterinary medicine (oncology experience preferred, but willing to train the right candidate)

Strong communication skills—both written and verbal—with a compassionate approach toward clients and patients

Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, collaborative environment

Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to patient safety

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks associated with patient care
