Veterinary Assistant

Raintree Veterinary Center is looking for a dedicated Veterinary Assistant to become part of our compassionate, hardworking team. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside skilled veterinarians and licensed technicians while caring for pets and supporting their families.
What You’ll Do
As a Veterinary Assistant, you’ll play a key role in delivering top-quality care for our patients and exceptional service to our clients. From hands-on patient care to behind-the-scenes support, your work helps keep our hospital running smoothly.
Daily Responsibilities:

Provide compassionate, gentle care to every patient.

Welcome clients and their pets, take vital signs, and prepare exam rooms.

Support veterinarians and technicians with exams, treatments, and medication administration.

Comfort and safely restrain patients when needed.

Assist with laboratory testing, radiographs, and operating specialized equipment (EKG, anesthetic monitors, fluid pumps, etc.).

Fill prescriptions accurately, maintain documentation, and handle controlled substances responsibly.

Feed, bathe, and groom patients, ensuring they are comfortable and well cared for.

Keep our hospital clean and organized — from kennels to equipment — always following safety and sanitation standards.

Educate clients about wellness, insurance, and treatment plans in a clear, supportive way.

Maintain accurate patient records and communicate effectively with clients and the team.

Be a team player — ready to jump in where needed, from surgery prep to emergency support.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

At least 1 year of experience in a small animal veterinary setting (appointment support, outpatient care).

Preferred: experience with surgical prep, recovery monitoring, and patient restraint.

Equivalent education, training, or certification may be considered.
Position Requirements

Ability to safely handle and restrain animals up to 50 lbs.

Comfortable working with sick or injured animals, medical equipment, anesthetics, and cleaning chemicals.

Flexible schedule, including some weekends and holidays.

Able to perform physically active work (standing, lifting, kneeling, bending, etc.) throughout the shift.

Commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
