Registered Veterinary Technician (Full Time)

Position Overview
- The Veterinary Technician supports hospital operations by providing dedicated quality veterinary care and exceptional service to our patients and clients. Responsibilities include providing patient care by determining animal requirements, conducting examinations and diagnostic procedures, assisting during surgery and operations, providing nursing care, assisting with feeding and caring for patients, maintaining medical supplies and equipment, overseeing triage and discharging patients, and maintaining patient medical records.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient intake and discharge from treatment and surgeries.
- Relay information to clients, even sensitive information, with compassion.
- Gathering patient history.
- Helping doctors when needed with whatever tasks needing to be completed.
- Answering medical questions when the doctor is not available.
- Maintaining accurate medical notes regarding everything.
- You must know where the emergency kit is.
- Helping give direction to the other departments when needed.
- Animal restraint.
- Vaccine administration.
- Drawing up the appropriate medications/vaccines into syringes.
- Drug calculations.
- Medication administration. Oral and injectable.
- Filling and refilling medications.
- Placing IV catheters.
- Drawing blood on patients.
- Preforming diagnostic checks like temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure and electrocardiograms.
- Running in house blood machines.
- Appropriate staining, fixing and gathering of specimens.
- Examining urine, feces, blood and cytology samples under the microscope.
- Taking x-rays.
- Patient prep prior to surgery.
- Setting up the surgery room.
- Inducing patients for anesthesia.
- Placing endotracheal tubes.
- Monitoring anesthesia.
- Dental prophylaxis and monitoring.
- Taking dental x-rays.
- Maintaining the prescription refill line.
- Maintaining working machines and devices in treatment.
- Cleaning and maintaining all surgical instruments.
- Wrapping pack to be sterilized.
- Sterilizing packs.
- Demonstrating how to’s for pet owners.
- Assisting the groomer with lifting, eag, n/t’s etc.
- Performing tech appointments. This includes but is not limited to bandage changes, administering vaccines, nail trims, anal sac expressions, ear cleaning etc.
- Preforming cold laser therapy.
- Sweeping, mopping and general cleaning of treatment area every night.
- Taking the trash to the dumpster from treatment at the end of the day.
- Answering the phone and lending a helping hand when able.
- With POB being an AAHA certified hospital, you are required to perform a documented 20 hours of continuing education (CE) every 2 while working here. Please provide this documentation to your hospital manager.
Qualifications (Required)
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience to run anesthesia.
- One or more years of experience with veterinary appointments, surgeries, and nursing care for hospitalized and critical patients.
- Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) as required by State.
- May consider an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience.

Saturday, 7AM-2PM
- 40 hours per week
