Oncology Appointment Assistant

Veterinary Referral Associates is looking for full-time Oncology Appointment Assistants in our busy specialty referral and 24-hour emergency hospital in Gaithersburg, MD.

Enjoy a 4-day workweek in our Oncology department where you will work under the direction of our two veterinary oncologists and senior team members in order to effectively communicate with families, perform diagnostic testing, and collaborate with our other medical teams to ensure the most comprehensive care for our patients, as well as support and comfort their families after a cancer diagnosis. This is the perfect opportunity for an assistant who is looking to enter the world of specialty veterinary medicine.

Ideal Candidate’s Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent client service and communication skills
  • Ability to safely and securely restrain animals using proper techniques
  • Attention to detail
  • Organized record keeping
  • Strong spelling and grammatical skills
  • Ability to take initiative, follow direction, and work in a team-oriented environment
  • Sound decision-making skills and the ability to multi-task

Oncology Appointment Assistants are responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Summarizing medical records'
  • Obtaining accurate history from owners
  • Gathering initial vitals from patients
  • Proper patient restraint
  • Obtaining diagnostic radiograph images
  • Completing in-house lab work
  • Dispensing oral medication as prescribed by a veterinarian

2+ years experience as a veterinary assistant is required.

Pay Range
$18.53$38.83 USD
