Radiation Oncology Veterinary Technician

VRCC Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Hospital is a 24-hour emergency and specialty veterinary hospital located in Englewood, Colorado. We see patients from both as referrals from general practice veterinarians, as well as directly from clients in need of specialty veterinary care for their pet. We specialize in Cardiology, Emergency & Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Oncology & Radiation Therapy, as well as orthopedic and soft tissue Surgery.

Position Overview:

Calling all Radiation therapists seeking a change to add love and fur babies into their life!

The Veterinary Technician supports hospital operations by providing dedicated quality veterinary care and exceptional service to our patients and clients. Responsibilities include providing patient care by determining animal requirements, conducting examinations and diagnostic procedures, running anesthesia, providing nursing care, assisting with feeding and caring for patients, maintaining medical supplies and equipment, discharging patients, and maintaining patient medical records.

Radiation Oncology RVT

  • Performing general anesthesia for radiation treatments and CT's scans/sedation monitoring
  • Assisting in anesthetic or sedated cytology/biopsy
  • Setting up and leak testing anesthetic machines
  • Operating an anesthetic ventilator
  • Warm up procedures for the linear accelerator and CT 
  • Performing radiation treatments under supervision of DVM
  • Assembling radiation set ups during CT scans
  • Checking in appointments/consults and assisting in any staging tests (blood draws for labwork, x-rays, cytology, etc)
  • Filling pharmacy medications/medical math
  • Exemplary IVC placement and blood draws
  • Client communication/education
  • Creating estimates/discussing with owners 
  • Accurate medical records using Cornerstone
  • Practices proper and safe patient restraint

What you’ll do:

  • Intake of patients and pre-anesthetic evaluation
  • Collaborate with DVM on treatment plan
  • Administer radiation treatments
  • Follow safety procedures to avoid unnecessary exposure to radiation
  • Maintain equipment, regularly check equipment to ensure safety
  • Client communication, effectively communicating with clients details and precautions on their pets procedure
  • Ensure accurate delivery of treatment using medical imaging equipment
  • Monitoring patient reaction to treatment and advising alternative treatment plans necessary
  • Maintaining detailed medical records on patients
  • Perform routine and complex tumor localization procedures if required by DVM using CT

Who you are:

  • Registered Veterinary Technician
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Experience in oncology preferred, but willing to train the right candidate
  • At Least 2+ years in veterinary medicine, preferably oncology
  • Outstanding attention to detail
  • ARRT Certification
Pay Range
$24$30 USD
