Anesthesia Veterinary Technician, VTS
Position Summary:
The Veterinary Technician Specialist in Anesthesia will play a vital role in delivering the highest standards of anesthetic care and patient monitoring. This individual will work closely with our surgery, emergency, and specialty teams to ensure safe and effective anesthetic protocols, staff training, and support for complex cases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform and oversee all aspects of anesthetic care, including patient assessment, induction, maintenance, recovery, and pain management.
- Tailor anesthetic plans for routine and advanced procedures across multiple services including surgery, internal medicine, radiology, oncology, and emergency.
- Act as a resource and mentor to veterinary technicians, providing on-the-floor training, guidance, and support.
- Maintain anesthesia equipment, ensure proper documentation, and uphold safety protocols.
- Collaborate with DVMs to evaluate and modify anesthesia plans based on patient needs and response.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning and clinical excellence within the hospital.
Qualifications:
- Current Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) certification in Anesthesia and Analgesia (NAVTA/AVTAA recognized).
- Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT, RVT, or LVT) in good standing.
- Minimum of 5 years clinical experience, with at least 2 years in anesthesia in a specialty or emergency setting.
- Strong knowledge of advanced anesthesia techniques and pharmacology.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and teaching skills.
